American Federation of Teachers President: Hillary’s a ‘pragmatic progressive’
Talk Media News' Justin Duckham spoke with Randi Weingarten, President of the AFT and member of the AFL-CIO, about endorsing Hillary Clinton for the presidency.

MANCHESTER, N.H. (Talk Media News) – The American Federation of Teachers and AFL-CIO have both endorsed Hillary Clinton for the 2016 Democratic presidential primary. Talk Media News’ Justin Duckham spoke with Randi Weingarten, President of the AFT and member of the AFL-CIO, about the support.

When the American Federation of Teachers became the first national union to endorse Clinton, the move was met with public criticism.
Weingarten told Duckham that despite the outcry that made papers, members of the AFT were generally supportive of the move.
“By about a 3 to 1 margin our members are supportive of Hillary over Bernie. But there’s real support for Bernie, because what Bernie stands for, the values that he raises are things that we’ve seen over, and over and over again,” she said. “She feels the same values, but she has a very different strategy on how to get those things done. And, I think that’s really the big difference.”
