Domes Community Build
Come Build Community…All skills and talents welcome!
The Domes Need Your Help
November 3-6th, 2011
For forty years, “The Domes” has sheltered a vibrant cooperative in its distinctive structures on the UC Davis campus. This innovative housing community is a local Davis landmark and a nexus of innovative sustainable ideas; SCHA is actively negotiating with the University to ensure that the community persists. We need your help to see this through!
Volunteers, under the guidance and supervision of licensed contractors and building professionals, will help renovate these landmark community structures in anticipation of a January re-opening. Join us for our fantastic four day work-party extravaganza to rebuild interiors, lay wheelchair-accessible pathways, paint, garden, make and serve food, and much more. If you can commit to one four-hour shift (or more), we can complete the work in just four days, minimizing costs, and keeping rents affordable at The Domes.
Here are four ways you can help. Sign up below!
- Volunteer your time
- Help us get the materials we need
- Lend us your tools (we guarantee them)
- Spread the word!
Partnering with SCHA, the Community Built Association has over 20 years of experience with organized volunteer coordination in participatory community projects. Together, we’re planning for a safe, well-organized, and successful event. We are excited for the opportunity to welcome you to our project! For more information visit the CBA Website.
