Having to “Defend” Rejecting Charter Schools
The swift bipartisan passage of the Quality Charter School Act by the House last week signaled further strengthening of the hand that charter school operators have in setting up schools across the country. They will now be able to appeal directly to Washington now. Floridians are already aware that both Governor Rick Scott and the republican dominated legislature favor charter schools. But how much clout do they already have now?
Lets take a look at whats happening in Seminole County. Writes Dave Weber in the Orlando Sentinel:
The theory behind charter schools is that traditional public schools are doing something wrong, somehow falling short, and a charter can do a better job.
