Yav Pem Suab Academy charter petition update
Independent charter petitioners set aside their petition
Superintendent Jonathan P. Raymond announced today that the independent charter petitioners for Yav Pem Suab Academy announced they would set aside their petition and work with the district and teachers' union to develop a dependent charter.
The academy would be open to all students in the district. Many details need to be agreed upon, and discussions will continue as to how to make this dream a reality for our community. This decision will provide the district the opportunity to better serve the needs of students with an innovative program and allow us to retain students who might wish to attend such a charter program.
This is an exciting opportunity for us to be bold and move in a direction that can set the model for closing the achievement gap for all students.
