Toolkit Tuesday: Post-Student Voice Live!
Celebrating Successes and Identifying Challenges
On Saturday April 13th 2013, students, educators, parents, policymakers and people throughout the world joinedStudent Voice Live! either in-person at the Microsoft Offices in New York City or online through watching the live-steam video.To co-create and co-facilitate a conference of such size was no easy task, but a team of dedicated students and adults worked collaboratively to empower the Student Voice.
At the end of the Conference, the organizers gathered for a “debrief” to discuss the adventures of the day. Specifically the prompts were: (1) Share one low moment and (2) Share one high moment.
Originally, I thought of topical responses such as more time or other minor challenges. However, when it was my turn to share I went beyond the prompt and expanded my reflection to include the social and emotional aspects of leadership.
