Your editorial on Oct. 24 (“I-1240 would offer a tool that could help fix state schools”) had a false premise. OUR SCHOOLS ARE NOT BROKEN. When scores are disaggregated for poverty, the US is one of the top countries internationally on the PISA Internationally. PISA (Program for International Student Assessment) comparisonsshow that poverty is the primary distinction between U.S. outcomes and outcomes in other countries.
