Opt Out, Baby

This is an astonishing development. 
SNOHOMISH -- More than 550 Snohomish School District students did not take state exams in the past two weeks, a revolt staged by parents who question whether the tests are worth the money. The parents also hoped to get the attention of state lawmakers.
I've been trying to dip my feet into the opt-out water, but I haven't gotten far. What we need is for a friendly lawmaker to write up a little somethin'-somethin' that protects districts and schools from

Tests based on writing prompts are just so stupid. Opt out.

Intrusive, nosy, pointless, and stupid.

Anyone who thinks this is a good prompt should be asked to show you his or her writing portfolio: there won't be one, don't worry. Only people who bray about nonsense and who have no real authentic experience doing anything can defend the tests that we inflict on our children.
