Dallas ISD elections: How much did the winners spend per vote?
A hallmark of this year's Dallas ISD school board elections will be the amount of money injected into the campaigns. For years, Dallas ISD school board candidates could win by raising somewhere between $15,000 and $30,000. Not this year. The winners -- Elizabeth Jones in District 1, Dan Micciche in District 3 and Bernadette Nuttall in District 9 -- raised substantial sums of money. They were helped by two new, well-funded political action committees, Educate Dallas and Dallas Kids First, which gaves tens of thousands of dollars to candidates. In fact, all of them except Jones ($49,739) raised more than $50,000. Micciche pulled in the most, raising $83,613. And he spent the most too, with $77,417. The figures will certainly jump in July when candidates file the next round of campaign finance reports. Now that we know the winners, let's take a look at how much they spent per vote to win. District 1 candidate Roland Love fared the best because he didn't raise any money.
