Arne Duncan, Michele Bachmann and the Federal Role in Education
Education Secretary Arne Duncan will be in Toledo Wednesday, as part of his bus tour of the Midwest. He'll visit the Toledo Federation of Teachers to discuss how their peer review of teacher interns is working so far. The union president Kevin Dalton told the Toledo Blade that Duncan's interest in the initiative is "an indication to its merit and value."
We'll have to wait and see whether Duncan actually endorses the Toledo Plan, as the union's initiative is known. What already is clear is that the education secretary continues to make performance reviews and teacher evaluations a front-burner issue.
