The Anomaly
I was berating the poor Justin Hamilton this afternoon, which by the way is an awesome new hobby, very popular, when I felt myself becoming enormously frustrated with Arne Duncan. Again.
The thing that has always stuck in my craw about Arne Duncan is that, in spite of his being the nicest guy in the world---- he's also a complete anomaly in the Obama Cabinet.
Every other cabinet officer is either an expert in the field or a person who has won elections--- a person who's had to go before the voters and advocate positions and have those positions ratified by the electorate. The reason presidents pick cabinet secretaries who are established national leaders is that the president needs to draw on the well of good will that these men and women have established around the nation in the courses of their own public careers.
