After decades of crime, drugs, home invasions, carjackings, kidnappings and murders from across the border, courageous Arizona lawmakers finally passed tough-minded illegal immigration legislation.

A recent Times editorial, however, maintains Californians have a “different mindset, different politics and different people” to take any real actions against illegal immigration. Instead, they should “keep an open mind.”

California and Arizona do have one thing in common. They’re both broke. Arizona can’t even afford to keep its highway rest areas open, while California, which spends $8-$9 billion on illegal aliens yearly, can’t afford to pay its employees with real money. Arizona cries out for help from the military, while Californians debate the horrors of E-Verify.
