Most degree claims valid: 26 BISD staffers list doctorates in credentials

Two Brownsville Independent School District administrators who used non-accredited Ph.D. degrees to falsely claim they held doctoral titles apparently are the only current BISD educators to employ such a tactic.
According to information provided by BISD’s Human Resources Department, 26 BISD educators list doctoral degrees as part of their credentials. BISD provided the information to The Herald as the result of a public information request.
Twenty-four of the degrees check out as legitimate through the accreditation index on the U.S. Department of Education website at http://ope.ed.gov/
accreditation/.
The other two are long-established foreign universities that appear to meet DOE criteria to accept their degrees as valid.
