RICHLAND — The Richland School Board decided to require that English class descriptions provide a warning that certain books may contain profanity, sex or violence.
The decision Tuesday came after months of debate over how teachers should inform parents of potentially objectionable content.
The Tri-City Herald reports the debate was started by parents of a student at Hanford High School who objected to parts of the book "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close," which tells the story of a boy whose father died in the 9-11 attacks.
