Final March: Call Congress

After months of hard work, the final vote on health reform in the House of Representatives is expected to be this Sunday.
But it's shaping up to be incredibly close -- so whether you've called your representative before or haven't yet spoken out on health reform, it's now time to raise your voice.

Ending insurance company abuses:
  • Ban discrimination against 12,600 residents with pre-existing conditions

Guaranteeing affordable coverage options:
  • Tax credits and other assistance for up to 181,000families and 12,700 small businesses
  • Extend coverage to 58,500 uninsured residents

Reducing the cost of care:
  • Save 2,000 families from health care related bankruptcy
  • Full prescription drug coverage for85,000 seniors on Medicare

Calling Tips

  • If you get a busy signal, please try again. Every vote -- and every caller -- counts.
  • Be polite, respectful and clear.
  • Introduce yourself to whoever answers the phone. Let them know you are a voter and mention what city you live in.

Example Script for Your Calls

Hello, my name is __________ and I'm a voter calling from __________ (city or town).
I'm calling to say "thank you" for fighting for health insurance reform -- and to let you know that voters in our state have pledged 1,306,768 volunteer hours to fight for members of Congress like you.
I know that the final vote will be very close, and wanted to let you know that voters at home are standing with the President and members of Congress like you on health reform.
