Student Unions of Portland Opt Out Campaign Press Conference: February 6th
by admin
Student Unions of Portland state:
Come support the Student Unions of Portland at our press conference about the opt-out campaign!
All over Portland Public Schools students will be opting out of taking their standardized OAKS tests. The Student Unions of Portland are encouraging students to opt-out to send a greater message about how standardized tests are an inaccurate representation of student knowledge, expensive, scores have a high correlation with class and race, and as a whole, state testing takes up a lot of class time that could be used learning and fostering student/teacher relationships.
We’re asking for a more holistic approach to education, a community based evaluation of teachers, a less standardized curriculum, less standardized graduation requirements, and elimination of state testing!

We’ll be meeting outside the Blanchard Education Service Center (PPS HQ 501 N. Dixon) at 7:00am Wednesday February 6th.
Join us, and wear red to show our solidarity with the Seattle teachers!
