Ohio education head Heffner resigns in wake of Inspector General report
Ohio Superintendent of Public Instruction Stan W. Heffner submitted his letter of resignation Saturday, following a report released recently by the state's Inspector General, who found Heffner had subverted "the process of government" when offered testimony before the legislature in support of a bill that "could and ultimately did benefit a corporation with which he had entered into an agreement of employment."
What Mr. Heffner didn't tell lawmakers was that he was working for a standardized testing company in Texas when he lobbied the Ohio General Assembly last year on a bill that benefited the company.
