THE CREATION OF WIDGETS
For non-teachers who read my post - two consortiums convened by governors from most, but not all, states have created two sets of Common Core Standards that are optionally adopted by the participating states (Louisiana adopted Partnership for the Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC)

The purpose was of course to STANDARDIZE teaching and learning (children). It was predicted, and the prediction has given birth to the concept, of Common Core Curriculum which will further serve to STANDARDIZE teaching and learning (children). And guess what - now we have in the making a new STANDARDIZED TEST that is supposed to measure to see if our children have in fact been STANDARDIZED.
