The Sacramento City Unified School District is among 16 across the country that have signed a compact to work with charter schools. This initiative, supported with $100,000 from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, aims to get beyond relationships of antagonism and isolation. It seeks to put contentious issues on the table, instead of sweeping them under the rug.
