Bloomberg's plan to offer great teachers $20,000 bonuses is just what city schools need

Michelle Rhee says under her leadership, Washington paid the best teachers more — and New York City is right to follow suit.
Mayor Bloomberg’s bold proposal to raise the pay of New York City’s most effective teachers by $20,000 is sound public policy — not an outrageous or out-of-touch idea, as some have suggested.
I can’t think of another profession in which rewarding individuals who work hard and achieve great results, with kids no less, is viewed so divisively.
New Yorkers should embrace Bloomberg’s plan to increase the pay
