At a recent Park Ridge board of education meeting a speaker got up and asked Board President John Heyde why they couldn’t get cheaper teachers. “You look for the cheapest paper,” she argued.

Her argument hinges on the assumption that by spending money on veteran teachers, the board is serving the interest of adults, not students.
