Moon teachers strike for 2nd day

Striking teachers in the Moon Area School District will walk the picket line today, although a joint statement Monday from the teachers union and the district said that "it appears progress is being made."
Classes are canceled today for the second day in a row. Negotiations are expected to resume this afternoon.
Athletics will continue as scheduled for varsity, junior varsity and middle school sports programs.
"I'm not for or against either side," said Moon resident Michael Mapel, 40, who has four children in the school district. "I just want it to work out."
Mr. Mapel stopped by the district's regular school board meeting Monday while his youngest child, a kindergartner, attended gymnastics practice nearby.
