GAPS Foundation to offer $40,000 in grants to educators in four counties

Eligible educators in the four-county service area of Northwest Regional Education Service District may apply, starting Monday, Sept. 13, for $40,000 in grants from the GAPS Foundation.

GAPS (Generating Assistance for Public Schools) in Clatsop, Columbia, Tillamook and Washington counties is a supporting foundation of the service district which provides financial assistance to public school programs by seeking special-project funding and long-term endowments.

The money from this fourth-annual grant program will be awarded in mini-grants between $100 to $1,000 to enhance existing classrooms, programs and services.

Educators who qualify will receive grants that directly affect students in these specific areas: Early Intervention/Early Childhood Education, Special Needs and Underprivileged Youth (such as Low-
