Sac State-run civics program earns national honors

A high school civics program run by Sacramento State has received national recognition for promoting voter participation and civic engagement in winning the Medallion award from the National Association of Secretaries of State.
The LegisSchool Project is run by Sac State's Center for California Studies. It coordinates discussions about policy issues between high school students and state lawmakers. It also runs civics internships, which pair high school students with college-level legislative interns. The program involves about 50,000 students from across California.
