Twin Rivers district board OKs closure of two schools

The Twin Rivers Unified School District board unanimously voted Tuesday evening to close two elementary schools and establish a timetable for more realignments and consolidations.
Aero Haven Elementary and Rio Linda Elementary will close in June, and Rio Linda Junior High will become a fifth- through eighth-grade school in the fall with a different name.
Rio Linda Elementary students will attend Dry Creek, Orchard or Westside elementary schools. Aero Haven will blend with Madison Elementary to create a new school on the campus. Several other campuses will change to K-8 schools.
Twin Rivers trustees voted in February to close at least four schools by June 2011 and an additional two schools the following year to address budget and enrollment shortfalls.
The district established neighborhood groups to identify schools for closure and realignment. The
