Thousands of schools from across the country, including more than 100 in the Bay Area, are taking part in today's "Day of Silence," a protest "to raise awareness of the silencing of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender students through bullying and harassment." Spearheaded by the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network, college and K-12 students will keep their traps shut between classes and at lunch, and even during class for those who want to go all out.

Not everyone, of course, is happy about this day. Anti-gay hatemonger Randy Thomasson, creator of the vile anti-marriage Save California group, complains, "Parents who are hearing about 'Day of Silence' are appalled this takeover is happening...They don't want their children to be subjected to in-your-face indoctrination." This, of course, is a lie.
