Is "Teach Like A Champion" Hitting An Unexpected Nerve?
Was I missing something? Jay Mathews over at The Washington Post today called Teach Like A Champion an "explosive book" and until I read his entire post, I didn't quite understand what the combustion was all about . . . understanding it as a book with an intense focus on technique over theory, as the March The New York Times Magazine cover story, "Building A Better Teacher" conveyed. But Mathews' angle this time illustrates how and why it is so difficult for schools of education to embrace new thinking:
