By definition, a quorum is the minimum number of representatives required to discuss a legislative matter. But we see quorums as something different in the 21st century.
We believe true public participation is necessary for a quorum - that our legislators need to hear from us, the people they represent, before they make the big decisions. That’s where BuildQuorum.com comes in.
There are already a lot of petition sites that encourage people to sign petitions that may or may not ever reach a recipient, but we're a little different.
We offer the opportunity to sign an actual message that will be emailed, faxed, or submitted to the web form of an actual governmental leader. This is your chance to be heard, not as a name on a long list, but as an individual. Take some time to sign messages you agree with or write your own and start a new movement. You can target members of Congress or even state legislators.
To be fully transparent, we want you to understand our business model. The vast majority of messages on BuildQuorum.com cost us a small amount to send and bring in no money for us. However, a very small percentage of messages are from organizations who pay us to bring supporters to important causes. So if you agree with an issue and want to hear more from the sponsor, signing their message will help us stay in business while their important causes find even more support.
