I just heard an amazing business statistic. Average revenues for corporations are down for the past two years, while corporate profits and stocks are at all time highs. How in the world is that possible ? It’s possible because the business world has been able to turn back the clock and adopt a strategy that the corporate titans used when Rockefeller, Carnegie, and Morgan ruled industrial America. Corporations simply demand more output from their workers, while at the same time offering lower pay and less benefits.
Teachers, have you seen your workload increase and your benefits diminished over the past several years ? It’s all part of the grand corporate strategy to break teacher unions and save taxpayer money. If it worked in corporate America, why not in the world of education? Teacher unions are all that stand between the final corporate goal of turning our schools into business models.
Why do you think so many wealthy business leaders have blamed teacher unions for an “education crisis” ? Why do you think corporate leaders are now so concerned about our poor inner city students and all the “incompetent teachers” that must be holding them back? Why is the corporate world promoting non-union charter schools ? Do you really think these corporate leaders have finally become concerned about the poor
