The $800,000 that a couple made off with after the NorthStar charter school closure even embarrassed some rich charter school operators. So when a top charter school lobbyists is critical of another charter school’s grab of taxpayer cash, there’s obviously a there..there.
“The isolated incident tarnishes the entire movement,” said Chris Moya, a lobbyist for Charter Schools USA, a charter management company that runs schools across the state. “The good actors can’t afford to buy away the amount of press that falls upon us and the entire movement when something like NorthStar happens.”Moya was ironically testifying on behalf of a House bill which would force public schools to turn over on demand
