INSPIRE 2013
The First NISCE Conference on Student-Centered Education
Friday, April 5, 2013 • Boston, MA
Hilton Boston (Logan Airport)
Student-centered education is both broad and deep in theory and in practice. From the many challenges of teaching students as individuals, to the neurological milestones of human development, from the politics of vouchers to the challenges of the Common Core, student-centered education is complicated, multifaceted, highly effective and not always easy to achieve—especially on a large scale.
INSPIRE 2013 will offer fresh perspectives on the how and why of student-centered learning—a mix of practical advice from those on the front lines along with exciting insights from leading experts. The one-day conference brings together an engaging line-up of passionate presenters and panelists, as well as unique opportunities for attendees to participate in sessions with colleagues and make new connections. (See the preliminary conference agenda here.)
Conference highlights will include a keynote presentation by Todd Rose, a member of the faculty at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, where he teaches a course on educational neuroscience and co-chairs Harvard’s Institute for Mind, Brain and Education; a special presentation by the extraordinary slam poet and teacher advocate Taylor Mali; a diverse selection of hands-on workshops, panels, talks and discussions; an exhibitor hallway featuring products and services designed to enhance learning; and an afternoon session of ten exciting five-minute Ignite presentations where anything can happen. The day ends with a cocktail reception and a chance to socialize with other conference attendees.
