DOCTOR POWER AND TEACHER DREAMS

I have a dream, that one day, teachers will have the influence and power in Congress that doctors have. Congress has once again been intimidated by the AMA and by the lobbyists that work for doctors. Congress was poised to lower the amount of money paid to doctors for Medicare services. This was supposed to be one of the ways to chip away at the massive federal deficit. This idea has been part of various spending bills for almost a decade and the idea has gone down to defeat every time.

The governor of Illinois has also proposed lowering the pay in Illinois for doctors who provide Medicaid services. It will be interesting to see if this has any success on the state level. Both the federal government and the state government are burdened with unbelievable debt and yet they have never lowered the Medicare or Medicaid pay
