This weekend Anne and I are back in Chicago after spending last weekend in Brooklyn and Manhattan celebrating 35 years of marriage, Jessica’s 40th birthday and visiting Occupy Wall Street.
Today is a perfectly sweet midwestern Fall day. A chill in the air. The trees that still have leaves are brilliant.
We have two large trees that sit on the parkway in front of our house. In Chicago we call the grassy spot of land between the sidewalk and the curb a parkway. My policy is to wait until all the leaves have fallen off those two trees before raking and bagging them.
It is the same policy I have towards snow. I wait until the snow stops and then shovel the sidewalk. Anne likes to
