School board looks for discussion

He hasn't yet seen "Waiting for 'Superman,' " the new film about America's public schools, but Superintendent Rob Winter thinks it probably makes some valid points.
At the end of Tuesday's Salina School Board meeting, Winter discussed the film briefly, along with the efforts of the McPherson School District to get an exemption from some of the requirements of No Child Left Behind.
The film, by David Guggenheim, who also directed the documentary "An Inconvenient Truth," featuring Al Gore's presentation on global warming, in 2006, explores the lives of several students trapped in poorly performing schools around the country, in places such as Harlem, Los Angeles and Washington, D.C.
