Gerrymandering is a new documentary film that will examine the conspiracy of partisan redistricting - a legislative technique that allows politicians to manipulate electoral boundaries and influence elections for decades at a time. This practice is as old as the United States itself, and Gerrymandering will trace the history of this political weapon from the signing of the Constitution through to today's high-stakes computer-aided mapping battles. Currently shooting across six states, Gerrymandering will feature interviews with politicians, scholars, journalists and grassroots advocates working to reform the system, capturing the full spectrum of contemporary American political life. Set for release in 2010,Gerrymandering will provide an unprecedented opportunity for a national debate about redistricting politics, a subject long shrouded in obscurity, on the eve of the next round of line drawing in all fifty states.
