Mayor Nutter continues to stand with Gov. Corbett as he guts funding for Philadelphia’s public schools and abandons his responsibility to our children. Gov. Corbett has made his priorities clear. He expanded tax breaks for corporations and the energy industry while cutting $1 billion from our public schools.
The crisis in Philadelphia public schools has been manufactured by Gov. Corbett. He is spending $400 million on building a new prison in the city, while starving Philadelphia students of resources, using teachers as scapegoats and treating families as pawns.
Short-term fixes aren’t enough. Philadelphia needs real, long-term solutions to help our children achieve their dreams.
