 Commissioner Pryor announces plans that take Connecticut backwards on Bilingual Education, English Language Learning, Multicultural Education and creating safe school climates
Stefan Pryor, Governor Malloy’s Commissioner of Education, has been on a mission to undermine and privatize the fundamental role of the State Department of Education.
Calling it part of his re-organization plan, last month Stefan Pryor did away with the Department of Education’s technical support operation by letting go the four Leaders in Residence and three former school superintendents who were providing direct guidance and support to Connecticut’s school districts, with a special emphasis on the thirty Alliance Districts.  The Alliance Districts being the state’s poorest districts, those that face the greatest achievement issues due to their high rates of poverty, language barriers and need for special education services.
