RW group @freedomworks posts tantalizing petition to #stopcommoncore

I’m a grown man with my own perspectives, so let me state that I make no secret of my progressive, social justice-oriented views regarding education. I am supportive of a free and equitable system of public education.
But I do oppose the Common Core State Standards. The Freedom Works petition against the CCSS makes the predictable argument:
Every person in America has a vital interest in stopping Common Core, a top-down, one-size-fits-all government takeover of our education system. [emphasis added].
Cursing the government’s role in this is like cursing the puppet without acknowledging the puppeteer. Far right-wing conservatives in their opposition to the Common Core, must consider the larger, market-based, and for-profit motives behind it.
