WHY DO PEOPLE GET ANGRY WHEN TEACHERS STAND UP FOR THEMSELVES ?
Now the Illinois Federation of Teachers has come under fire for demanding the resignation of Richard Ingram, the head of the Illinois Teachers’ Retirement system. The state’s second largest teachers union became upset when Ingram talked about reining in the annual cost-of-living adjustments provided for retirees.
Several journalists’ and some editorials in newspapers have bashed the Illinois Federation of Teachers for not being more open-minded and allowing Ingram to talk about what is a possible solution to the Illinois pension crisis.
I called for Ingram’s resignation long before the IFT. Here’s the problem with what Ingram said and what he was advocating. HE IS SUPPOSED TO BE AN ADVOCATE FOR THE TEACHERS. He is supposed to defend and have the best interests of the teachers in mind at all times. Why would he talk about giving up cost-of-living
