THIS IS NOT A JOKE!
A new blog that I believe was inspired by the realization of a parent with gifted children in St. Tammany Parish that the opportunity for ALL CHILDREN IN LOUISIANA to receive a quality public education is teetering precariously on a precipice and put there by our own Governor Bobby Jindal.
Take note teachers, parents and taxpayers in St. Tammny Parish. Our highest-performing-large-district-in-the-state status will not protect us from the "if-it-ain't-broke-break-it" mentality of our most current "reform" experiment. But isn't that what our locally ELECTED legislative representatives promised? Immunity from the recent destructive legislation THAT THEY ALL VOTED FOR!!!!
How will they explain to their constituency the influx of unwanted and unaccountable charters, the outflow of local education tax dollars to private and parochial schools, the influx of charters and uncertified TFA personnel? Our public school system is facing the reduction of over a million dollars in MFP funding as a result of Jindal's new voucher bill.
It is highly likely that a certified teacher or principal in your school (your neighbor, your friend, your aunt, sister, cousin) will be rated "ineffective" based on the voo-doo psychometrics of a value-added evaluation system that
