Here’s what I don’t understand about Sen. Cullerton’s rational: He’s offering a promise to honor the state’s previous promise as “something of real value”.
Call me silly, but fool my once…
If the state had honored it’s promise in the first place and not skipped it’s payments, there might be some belief in the state following through. But despite this, Sen. Cullerton sees offering a new contract promising to honor the original contract as having real value?
Again, fool me once…
As stated in the IL Constitution, current pensions benefits can not be diminished or impaired and
