The Letter
I saw some Twitter traffic about New Trier's letter from earlier this year, where they have to tell the parents that they didn't make AYP. If you're not from Illinois, New Trier is our state's iconic leafy suburban high school, well funded and high achieving. It's actually two campuses, but you get the point. The main idea is that if New Trier isn't making AYP, well, then there must be something horribly awry with the system.
It's a pretty good letter, as far as these things go. Since NCLB came around, I've worked in 4 public schools; all of them had to send out their version of this letter.
