Dismissed California whistle-blower battles to get job back

Kathy Carroll says she was fired for blowing the whistle on problems in the state Commission on Teacher Credentialing that could jeopardize kids – and she's fighting to get her job back.
"A government agency should be held accountable," she said of her whistle-blowing. "If it has made mistakes or isn't doing things per statute, the public has a right to know."
Carroll was fired during a probe of the teacher credentialing commission in which she was assisting officials of the state auditor, Elaine Howle, who now calls the board one of the "worst run" that she ever has investigated.
