Small Town Enters the Bullying Spotlight
The small town of Blackfoot, Idaho entered the national spotlight last week as the latest battle over bullying and harassment in our nation's schools.
Five former student athletes at Blackfoot High School were charged with various misdemeanors including false imprisonment, battery and felony counts of forcible sexual penetration using a foreign object.
Students and locals from the 11,000 resident town sat in the courtroom to hear the charges, which stem from alleged incidents of hazing, a term referring to harassment, abuse or humiliation used as part of initiating someone into a group. Police say various hazing incidents took place on school grounds, in a bus and in school
