Vt. school contract has no teacher step raises

WINOOSKI, Vt.—The new teachers contract in Winooski doesn't contain step raises for teachers, long a stable of Vermont teacher contracts.
Step increases are salary increases given to teachers based on factors such as experience and education. They are in addition to base pay increases.
Teachers and the Winooski school board reached the contract earlier this month, just hours before the teachers were to go on strike.
