RI education commissioner sides with students

PROVIDENCE, R.I.—State Education Commissioner Deborah Gist (GIHST) has sided with students at a Providence high school who wanted a return to the school's former schedule.
Gist ruled Tuesday that the Providence School Department must maintain the original amount of time dedicated to teacher planning at Hope High School.
The school district now must restore 84 minutes of so-called common planning time at the high school.
