Facts Don’t Lie! Students Paying the Price for Governor’s Education Cuts

By Steve Maviglio
On Thursday, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s spokesperson continued to make claims that have no basis in fact, denying that California’s schools are being subjected to billions in cuts. He made these claims in response to a popular viral video featuring actress Megan Fox in an over-crowded classroom suffering from the state’s devastating education budget cuts. Sarah Palin comes to Turkey Tech sticky icon

By Peter Schrag
As such events go, the 50th anniversary celebration of Stanislaus State University in Turlock, scheduled this June, would be just another of those passing occasions.

Sarah Palin to be the main speaker at a fancy $500-a-plate fundraiser marking the event. The rumored amount – said to be Palin’s going rate – is $100,000.
The sponsoring foundation says the contract with Palin, who’s gotten increasingly secretive about her personal affairs, won’t allow it to tell. But now that she’s become the populist avatar of in-your-face anti-intellectualism, $100,000 seems to be her standard.
