Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's proposed 2010-2011 state budget would cut funding for K-12 education by $2.7 billion -- a reduction of an average of $432 per student, according to a report Tuesday by the nonpartisan California Budget Project.
In the Central Valley, the cuts in state funding would be as high as $67.5 million to districts in Sacramento County to a low of just over $4 million in Yuba County.
Here are the estimate cuts to Central Valley counties, according to CBP’s analysis:
• Butte: $9,121,000 or $321 per student
• Fresno: $55,274,000 or $315 per student
• Kern: $56,942,000 or $353 per student
• Kings: $8,025,000 or $332 per student
• Madera: $8,931,000 or $330 per students
• Merced: $17,759,000 or $338 per student
• Sacramento: $67,593,000 or $322 per student
• San Joaquin: $39,198,000 or $320 per student
• Stanislaus: $30,312,000 or $319 per student
• Tulare: $28,862,000 or $323 per student
• Yolo: $8,868,000 or $319 per student
• Yuba: $4,019,000 or $327 per student
