"Rather than slash spending on education and health care further to balance the state budget, legislators should consider boosting revenue by closing corporate loopholes and collecting additional taxes.
That was the message that Lenny Goldberg, executive director of the Sacramento-based California Tax Reform Association, delivered Monday night during a forum on the state's budget woes. Goldberg shared the podium with Assemblyman Jared Huffman, D-San Rafael, and Norman Solomon, a West Marin author and progressive political activist.
The meeting, which was attended by more than 50 people, was sponsored by the Marin Peace and Justice Coalition at the First United Methodist Church in San Rafael."
