About NEA’s Read Across America

The National Education Association is building a nation of readers through its signature program, NEA’s Read Across America. Now in its 18th year, this year-round program focuses on motivating children and teens to read through events, partnerships, and reading resources.

"You're never too old, too wacky, too wild, to pick up a book and read with a child."

Books Build A Brighter Tomorrow Award

2015 Books Build a Brighter Tomorrow Award: for educators interested in putting more diversity on shelves in schools. Annie and SONY Pictures are working with the National Education Association to deliver Books for a Brighter Tomorrow, a national program to support classroom and school libraries and build on NEA's signature literacy program, Read Across America. Awards of $1,000 are available to public schools that serve economically disadvantaged students in order to enrich book collections with diverse children's literature and offer titles that give kids a chance to discover themselve and their life experiences in stories. The deadline has been extended to March 2, 2015! Learn more here.
