How big was the crowd at the Oakland general strike?
For as long as I have been going to demonstrations there have been debates about how big the crowd was. The rule of thumb is to take the number that the organizers claim and the number reported by the press and the government and split the difference.
But the Young Turks’ Cenk Uygur makes a good case for claiming that the mainstream media was shameless in its undercounting of how many people were at the Oakland general strike last week.
